Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of Australia Richard Marles will be undertaking an official visit to Sri Lanka on 3 June 2025.

During this visit, the Deputy Prime Minister is expected to pay courtesy calls on President Anura Kumara Disanayaka and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Vijitha Herath. He will also meet Prime Minister Dr Harini Amarasuriya who will be the Chief Guest at a special luncheon hosted at the Australia House in honour of the visiting Minister.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence will also hold a bilateral discussion with Deputy Minister of Defence Major General (Retd) Aruna Jayasekara. The visit is aimed at further strengthening bilateral cooperation and enhancing collaboration in the defence sector between the two countries.

The Deputy Prime Minister will be accompanied by officials of the Prime Minister’s Office, the Department of Defence and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Australia.

ROP clarifies on fine waivers for overstaying expats – May 2025

The Centre for Gender Studies of the University of Kelaniya of Sri Lanka is organizing an International Conference on Child Protection 2025 (ICCP’25) in collaboration with the National Child Protection Authority and UNICEF Sri Lanka and the JURE Project from 25 to 27 July 2025, Colombo, Sri Lanka.

The Centre for Gender Studies of the University of Kelaniya, formed in 2011, is the initial Center to ensure gender equality with a significant focus on Sustainable Development Goal 05, which aims to provide a focus for research, teaching and raising consciousness on gender at the university level and within the community at large.

The Centre for Gender Studies of the University of Kelaniya called for Abstract submission of research papers for the Conference.

The deadline for extract submission has been extended until the 31st of March 2025.

President Anura Kumara Disanayaka will undertake a State Visit to the People’s Republic of China from 14-17 January 2025 at the invitation of President Xi Jinping.

During the visit, President Disanayaka will hold bilateral discussions with President Xi Jinping on a range of areas of mutual interest and will also meet Chinese Premier Li Qiang and the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China Zhao Leji.

The visit to the People’s Republic of China will further strengthen the longstanding ties between the two countries.

President Anura Kumara Disanayaka will undertake a State Visit to India from 15-17 December 2024 at the invitation of the President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu. This is the first overseas visit undertaken by the President after his assumption of office.

During the visit, President Disanayaka is scheduled to meet the Indian President Smt. Droupadi Murmu and hold bilateral discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other Indian dignitaries on a range of issues of mutual interest.

The visit will further advance and consolidate the long-standing relations between the two countries.
